Asterisk is a Discord bot. These terms cover inviting it, using slash commands, confessions/vents, and vote rewards. If something here conflicts with Discord’s Terms or Community Guidelines, Discord wins. Always.

1. Who we are

“Asterisk,” “we,” and “the bot” mean the Asterisk Discord application (client id 1070240993380679710) and the people who operate it. We’re not Discord, not affiliated with Discord Inc., and not a law firm with a fun logo.

2. What you’re agreeing to

By inviting Asterisk, using its commands, or interacting with related services (site, top.gg vote rewards, support server features), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you don’t agree, remove the bot from your servers and stop using it. No hard feelings. Well — maybe a tiny hard feeling. Still: stop.

3. Eligibility

• You must be allowed to use Discord under Discord’s own rules (including age requirements).
• If you manage a server, you’re responsible for whether Asterisk is appropriate for that community.
• Don’t use Asterisk where it’s banned, blocked, or clearly unwelcome.

4. The service (what Asterisk is)

Asterisk provides Discord features that may include, among other things:

• Roleplay and reaction slash commands (GIFs / embeds)
• Anonymous-style confessions and vents (when configured by server staff)
• Utility commands (links, matching, staff checks, etc.)
• Optional rewards for voting on bot lists such as top.gg

Features can change, break, get rate-limited, or disappear while we fix things. The bot is provided as is — useful on a good day, stubborn on a bad one.

5. Your responsibilities

You’re responsible for how you use Asterisk. That includes:

• Not using commands to harass, spam, doxx, or target people
• Not trying to exploit, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the bot for abuse
• Not using confessions/vents to break Discord rules or local law
• Not impersonating staff or claiming official status you don’t have
• Keeping your Discord account secure (we can’t un-vote or un-send for you)

Server owners/admins are responsible for permissions, channel setup, and moderating content that appears in their servers — including confession/vent channels.

6. Confessions, vents, and “anonymous”

“Anonymous” means we try not to show your name on the public post. It does not mean mathematically untraceable forever.

• Server admins may have tools to review or report posts according to how the bot is configured.
• We may retain data needed to run moderation tools (blacklist, reports, appeals).
• If Discord or law requires it, we may have to act on stored data. See Privacy.

Don’t put secrets in a confession that would ruin your life if someone connected the dots. The internet has a sense of humor. It is not your friend.

7. Voting & rewards (top.gg and similar)

Optional vote rewards (premium-style perks, reduced cooldowns, temporary roles, thank-you messages) depend on third parties such as top.gg. By voting you also accept their terms.

• Rewards are cosmetic / convenience perks — not cash, not gambling, not financial products.
• Weekend multipliers and durations can change; we’ll aim to keep /vote accurate.
• Abuse (fake votes, automation, webhook spoofing) can get perks removed and access restricted.
• We don’t control top.gg uptime, vote cooldowns, or whether their webhook fires.

8. Permissions

Asterisk only works with the Discord permissions you grant at invite (and later changes). If you grant admin-level access, that’s on you. Prefer least privilege when you can.

9. Intellectual property

The Asterisk name, logo (the blue star mark), and our original branding are ours. Command output may include third-party GIFs or media from external APIs — those remain owned by their respective owners. Don’t rip the brand and slap it on a scam bot. Rude.

10. Availability & changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features without notice. We may update these Terms; the “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms. Big changes that actually matter: we’ll try not to bury them in fine print hieroglyphics.

11. Termination

We may restrict or block the bot for users, guilds, or everyone if:

• You break these Terms or Discord’s rules
• Your use harms other users, the bot, or our infrastructure
• We’re required to by Discord or law
• We’re out of spoons and the servers are on fire (temporary outages happen)

You can terminate anytime by removing Asterisk from your servers.

12. Disclaimers

Asterisk is not a crisis service, lawyer, doctor, or relationship counselor — even if /hug feels like therapy adjacent. For real emergencies, use local emergency services and real-world help.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we’re not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of Asterisk. If something goes sideways, our total liability related to the service is limited to zero dollars (the price you paid us: also zero). Some places don’t allow these limits; in those places, they apply only as far as allowed.

Questions about these Terms: reach the operators via the Asterisk support / community channels you already use for the bot, or through contact methods listed on the bot’s public listing pages (e.g. top.gg / Discord App Directory).

Human summary: Use the bot nicely. Don’t abuse anonymity. Vote rewards are optional fun, not a contract for eternal premium. Discord’s rules still apply. We’re doing our best with a blue star and caffeine.
